Welcome to Redhall Riding Club
Redhall Riding Club was founded in the late 1970's by a group of equestrian enthusiasts from the Carrickfergus, Ballycarry, Islandmagee and Larne areas.
The inaugural meeting was held at the famous 'Rinkha' in Islandmagee. The club took the name Redhall as one of the founder members was Mrs Monica McClintock of Redhall Estate, who was DC of the local pony club and wanted to establish a riding club in the area for adults.
The club quickly became a popular focus in the community and membership grew to such an extent that they began to run their own shows.
Ballycarry show, held on Easter Monday at Manse Road on land belonging one of the club's founder members Mr Will Moore, was always regarded as the first outdoor show of the year. Crowds flocked to the show for years.
Ballyclare show in mid August has become an established date on the local equestrian calendar, but it is perhaps Carrick show with which the club has become most associated. This is the largest show, organised by a riding club, in the East Antrim area holding major qualifying events for provincial finals, including 'Show of the North' and 'Showjumper of the Year'.
In recent years the format of the club's other shows has become rather different, with an indoor two-phase event, held at Laurelview, on Easter Monday and a Derby style event held at Sixmilewater Park, Ballyclare.
The club run lessons throughout the winter, usually at Knockaghview Equestrian Centre. These lessons cover all activities, showjumping, working hunter, dressage and flatwork.
Redhall have always had success at the NIRC Championships down the years. On one occasion in the early 1980's, they qualified for the National Showjumping Finals.
More recently two of the club members, Laura Evans and Amanda McCracken were part of the Irish Nations Cup winning team.
Redhall Riding Club maintains a faithful membership and a hard working committee, who try where possible to organise events and lessons which have an appeal to all equestrian enthusiasts.
If you feel you'd like to become a member of a friendly and forward thinking riding club, please don't hesitate to contact the Chairman, Secretary or any of the committee.
